Damascus International Fair Prepares for 63rd Edition

The Damascus International Fair is set to launch its 63rd edition this month, running from August 26 to September 4. This year’s event at the new Damascus Fairgrounds aims to consolidate various specialized exhibitions held throughout the year under a single, comprehensive economic umbrella. The fair is expected to serve as a vital meeting point for businesses, investors, and industry experts, fostering increased cooperation and the exchange of professional expertise within the Syrian market.
Organizers and economic stakeholders view the upcoming event as a significant platform for regional and international commerce. Salah Aziziyah, a director of events at the exhibition organization firm Glovent, emphasized that the fair transcends the traditional definition of a trade event. By bringing together diverse companies, sectors, and international participants, it creates a unique space for networking and the establishment of new business channels. Aziziyah noted that the fair is particularly important as it gathers the various specialized exhibitions that have occurred periodically throughout the year, allowing attendees to engage with a broader range of companies and economic opportunities in a single location.
From a logistical perspective, the event is designed to provide a comprehensive look at the current Syrian industrial and commercial landscape. Participation in the fair offers firms a chance to showcase their services, understand new market trends, and explore potential partnerships. Organizers are focused on managing the extensive exhibition space, ensuring that the distribution of pavilions and the flow of visitors facilitate efficient interaction between exhibitors and the public.
Industry leaders, including Ghiath Al-Shammaa, CEO of the Delta Group for Exhibitions and International Conferences, highlight the long-standing significance of the fair, which boasts a history spanning over six decades. Al-Shammaa pointed out that the event serves as a major hub for cultural and commercial exchange between Syria and the international community. Furthermore, it plays a key role in supporting the local economy by promoting Syrian products to foreign markets and enhancing export prospects.
Since its relaunch last year, the Damascus International Fair has been positioned as a cornerstone for national development and a primary venue for Syria’s growing exhibition industry. The event serves to connect international companies with local markets while simultaneously placing Syrian-made goods on the global map of trade and industry. The specialized exhibition sector in Syria is currently seeing rapid development, characterized by increasing competition among national firms and experts.
Building on the momentum of previous years, officials hope to replicate the successes of the 62nd edition, which was held between August 28 and September 5, 2025. That event saw a record turnout of over 2.2 million visitors, with contracts and agreements signed during the fair reaching an estimated value of 935 billion Syrian pounds. This year’s edition seeks to continue this trajectory, providing a robust platform for the ongoing recovery and growth of the Syrian economy.
