Dahab Expo for Footwear and Leather Opens in Damascus

The third edition of the “Dahab Expo,” a specialized trade fair for footwear, apparel, leather goods, and production supplies, kicked off this Thursday at the Fairgrounds in Damascus. The event, which focuses on the upcoming autumn and winter 2026 season, saw a high level of participation from commercial and industrial representatives, with official attendance marking its opening under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Economy and Industry.
Spanning an area of more than 10,000 square meters, the exhibition brings together over 160 Syrian companies representing more than 500 local brands under one roof. The event also features international participation from companies based in Turkey, China, Lebanon, and Egypt, reinforcing its role as a key platform for exchanging expertise and expanding business networks within the textile and leather industries.
During the opening ceremony, Assistant Minister of Economy and Industry, Mohammed Yassin Houria, emphasized that hosting such specialized exhibitions is a core component of the Ministry’s strategy to stimulate the local economy and bolster national industry. Houria explained that the primary goal of these events is to enhance the quality of Syrian products and increase their competitiveness in international markets, with the ultimate aim of restoring the prominence of Syrian industry on the global stage.
Highlighting the importance of these venues, the Assistant Minister noted that both local and international exhibitions serve as vital channels for marketing national products. He stated that the participation of Syrian manufacturers and merchants in such forums provides genuine opportunities to promote national goods and open new horizons for exports, which in turn drives industrial growth.
Furthermore, Houria underscored the Ministry’s commitment to maintaining direct communication channels with industrialists to address the practical challenges they face. He affirmed that the Ministry is working to translate feedback received during these events into concrete action plans and specialized workshops. These initiatives are designed to develop appropriate solutions, ensuring a supportive industrial environment that enhances production and improves the visibility of national products in global markets.
The Dahab Expo will continue until the 10th of this month. The venue is open to visitors, industry professionals, and merchants daily from 1:00 PM to 10:00 PM, offering a comprehensive view of the latest developments in Syrian footwear, leather, and apparel manufacturing for the coming season.
