As-Suwayda Governor Announces Committee for Returning Dismissed Staff
The Governor of As-Suwayda, Mustafa Al-Bakour, has officially announced the establishment of a specialized committee tasked with receiving and reviewing applications for reinstatement from public sector employees. The initiative applies to staff members of the Ministry of Local Administration and Environment and affiliated administrative units within the province who were dismissed from their posts during the years of the Syrian crisis.
According to an announcement released by the As-Suwayda Governorate via its official Telegram channel on Monday, the committee will operate from a designated facility in the town of As-Suwayda’s Al-Soura al-Saghirah. Applicants seeking to return to their former positions are required to present themselves at the site, accompanied by all necessary official documentation, so that their cases can be processed in accordance with administrative regulations.
This move follows a broader government policy regarding the restoration of civil service personnel. During a press conference held last Wednesday, the Minister of Local Administration and Environment, Muhammad Anjarani, outlined the progress of the reintegration program. Minister Anjarani stated that the total number of individuals dismissed during the conflict stood at 8,014. To date, 6,520 of these individuals have been successfully reinstated, representing a return rate of approximately 81 percent.
The minister noted that a balance of 1,494 individuals remain outside the civil service, stating that these cases were not cleared for re-employment as they did not meet the established legal and administrative criteria required for return. The local committee in As-Suwayda is now the primary point of contact for eligible residents in the province to initiate the formal procedures necessary to rejoin their respective departments.
This development is part of the ongoing administrative efforts by the Syrian government to manage the post-conflict reintegration of public sector workers. The formation of the provincial committee reflects the government’s aim to streamline the process of reviewing remaining cases at a local level, ensuring that those who qualify under the current guidelines have a clear path to resuming their employment within the ministry’s regional offices. The provincial government has emphasized that all applications will be scrutinized according to established legal standards to ensure compliance with the ministry’s directives.
