Road Rehabilitation Project Launched in Al-Bab, Aleppo
Technical teams in the city of Al-Bab, located in the eastern countryside of Aleppo, have officially launched a project to pave and asphalt two major thoroughfares: the ‘New Street’ and Al-Asfour Street. The initiative is being conducted in collaboration between the regional administration and the local city council, following the successful completion of infrastructure upgrades and sidewalk standardization in the designated areas.
Ihab Al-Rajih, the official in charge of the road engineering project in Al-Bab, stated that the development is being executed in several structured phases. The process began with the removal of severely damaged asphalt layers, followed by the complete replacement of sewage networks, water distribution pipelines, and telecommunications infrastructure. Once the paving is finalized, the next stage of the project will involve the installation of new lighting poles to ensure the streets are prepared for full operation and traffic flow.
Abdul Rahman Al-Abdo, head of the technical office at the Al-Bab city council, emphasized that the ongoing work is subject to rigorous technical oversight. According to Al-Abdo, the engineering teams are performing mandatory quality control tests, including the monitoring of asphalt temperature, density, and grain distribution, to guarantee long-term durability and high-quality implementation. He noted that the council is already preparing to extend these rehabilitation efforts to other streets across the city once the current phase is completed.
The municipal administration had initiated this comprehensive urban development program last June. The project aims to modernize the city’s aging infrastructure and address the significant deterioration of the local road network, which had not undergone any meaningful repair or paving works for approximately fifteen years. This current push is part of a broader summer campaign to improve the service landscape and traffic accessibility in the region.
As the work progresses, the local administration seeks to ensure that the newly rehabilitated streets meet modern engineering standards, ultimately aiming to enhance the daily lives of residents by providing safer, more efficient transport routes. This project represents a critical step in the ongoing efforts to restore essential municipal infrastructure in the Aleppo countryside.
