Ministry of Industry Discusses Economic Cooperation with Turkish Delegation

As part of ongoing efforts to develop the industrial sector and stimulate the investment climate, the Director of Planning and Investment at the Ministry of Industry and Internal Trade and Consumer Protection, Osama Al-Omar, held an extensive meeting with a delegation from the Turkish-Syrian Business Council, led by Mahsum Altunkaya.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed prospects for joint economic cooperation and mechanisms to enhance the presence of Turkish investors in the Syrian market, in a manner that serves the economic interests of both nations.

Osama Al-Omar emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to supporting investment activities by providing all necessary facilities for Turkish investors and working diligently to simplify administrative and legal procedures related to their investments. He stressed that the Ministry aims to foster an attractive investment environment that contributes to activating and invigorating economic cooperation across various sectors.

Furthermore, the two sides explored ways to strengthen communication channels and exchange expertise and successful practices, particularly in the industrial and technical fields. This initiative is part of broader efforts aimed at supporting the development of the Syrian industrial sector and opening new horizons for cross-border partnership and investment, thereby contributing to economic development.

This meeting occurs within the context of strengthening economic relations between Damascus and Ankara. Damascus previously hosted the Syrian-Turkish Businessmen’s Forum on August 26, which saw the active participation of nearly 40 Turkish companies representing various industrial and commercial sectors. The primary goal of that forum was to foster economic partnerships, launch new joint projects, and increase the level of trade exchange while expanding areas of cooperation between the business communities in Syria and Turkey.

These developments reflect ongoing efforts to enhance trade exchange and develop the industrial production base by leveraging mutual expertise and activating strategic partnerships between the public and private sectors in both countries.
