Latakia Automated Block Factory Resumes Production

The automated block factory affiliated with the Syrian Construction and Building Company branch in Latakia has officially resumed production over the past month. The facility returned to service following a comprehensive rehabilitation and maintenance program successfully executed by local technical teams.

This initiative is part of broader efforts to re-invest in available production facilities and strengthen their capacity to meet the demands of ongoing construction projects across the governorate. According to Fater Ahmed, head of the Industrial Works Division at the company’s branch, the factory’s return to service was achieved through the collaborative efforts of workers and technicians from merged companies. He noted that the facility’s production capacity has been elevated to reach levels that meet established professional standards.

Ahmed further explained that the rehabilitation process was not limited to the block factory alone. It encompassed other production centers specializing in metalwork, woodwork, and a paint facility. These installations are now fully operational, supporting the requirements of the branch’s own projects, while surplus production is being offered to the local market at competitive prices.

Hussam Shihad, the director of the automated block factory, highlighted that the maintenance and rehabilitation work was carried out using the company’s own internal workshops, keeping execution costs economically efficient. Shihad confirmed that the factory is currently producing between 3,500 and 4,000 blocks per day. This output includes various standard sizes required by the construction market—specifically 10 cm, 15 cm, and 20 cm blocks—as well as “hourdi” blocks in 14 cm, 16 cm, and 18 cm sizes.

To ensure quality and market competitiveness, Shihad emphasized that all products undergo regular monitoring and rigorous technical testing at the University of Latakia. These tests verify that the materials consistently meet required quality standards.

This development holds strategic importance for the institution’s projects. By producing essential construction materials in-house, the company effectively reduces overall implementation costs and accelerates the pace of work on vital projects. Furthermore, the initiative serves to leverage local expertise and talent, demonstrating a commitment to repurposing available production capabilities to stimulate the construction sector in the coastal region.
