Temperatures Drop Across Syria as Rain Forecast for Coastal Regions

Most regions in Syria are experiencing a drop in temperatures today, Sunday, with readings remaining approximately 1 to 3 degrees Celsius below the general seasonal average for this time of year. According to the National Center for Meteorology, the daytime weather is characterized by moderate temperatures and partial cloud cover, which is expected to thicken at times in coastal, northwestern, and southwestern regions.

Weather forecasts indicate a continued chance of scattered, random rain showers in these areas. In some instances, particularly in coastal regions where atmospheric activity is currently noted, these showers may be heavy and accompanied by thunderstorms. During the night, a generally cool climate will prevail across all governorates, with temperatures dropping further in mountainous areas. High humidity levels are expected to contribute to a greater sense of cold.

Authorities have issued warnings to citizens regarding the potential formation of fog during the late night and early morning hours in parts of the central, northwestern, and some southern regions, which could impact horizontal visibility. Regarding wind movement, weather reports indicate that winds will be south-easterly in the eastern region and the Jazira area, while they will be south-westerly in the remaining regions. Wind speeds are expected to range from light to moderate, with noticeable activity in the afternoon in the form of gusts that may exceed 40 km/h. Sea conditions will remain light in terms of wave height.

Regarding temperatures recorded across the Syrian governorates, Damascus recorded a maximum of 26°C and a minimum of 12°C.
