Salhab Art Exhibition Showcases Talents from Shams Atelier

The Arab Cultural Center in the city of Salhab, located in the Hama countryside, has launched a new art exhibition titled “Bisan: Creations, Colors Telling the Dream.” The event is part of the Hama Directorate of Culture’s ongoing efforts to support the local art scene and foster visual literacy within the community. The exhibition features approximately 150 diverse artworks, highlighting the skills and creative capabilities of students from the Shams Atelier across various age groups.
The artworks on display employ a wide range of techniques, including charcoal, graphite, pastel, and oil painting. This variety reflects the promising artistic development of the participants. Faten Abbas, the supervisor of the Shams Atelier and organizer of the exhibition, explained that the name “Bisan” was chosen to symbolize the innocence of childhood, the concept of stability, and the feeling of a secure home. Abbas noted that the exhibition includes contributions from 40 students of different ages. She emphasized the importance of hosting such events regularly, describing them as a vital platform for showcasing students’ creative output and strengthening the presence of art culture in the governorate.
Participating students expressed the significance of this experience in their artistic journeys. Nora Jaroush, one of the exhibiting artists, shared that her passion for drawing began three years ago. She has been systematically refining her skills, moving from pencil and charcoal to more complex pastel techniques. Jaroush expressed her ambition to reach a wider audience and eventually showcase her work in larger artistic forums.
Another student, Milad Youssef, contributed six pieces focused on nature and scenes from daily life. He stated that participating in such exhibitions is a fundamental step in honing his artistic experience and developing his creative tools.
This initiative is part of a broader commitment by the Ministry of Culture and its regional directorates across Syrian governorates to nurture young talent. By providing appropriate environments for students to exhibit their work, these efforts contribute to infusing the Syrian art scene with new perspectives and reinforce the role of cultural centers in connecting art with the local community.
