Al-Hasakah: Alouk Water Station to Halt Operations for Maintenance

The General Company for Drinking Water and Sewage in Al-Hasakah Governorate has announced that water pumping from the Alouk station will be suspended for one week, starting tomorrow, Sunday. The temporary shutdown is intended to facilitate comprehensive technical maintenance operations.

Farhan Al-Owais, the company’s director-general, explained that the scheduled maintenance plan encompasses both the Alouk station and the Al-Hamma pumping station, located in the western countryside of Al-Hasakah. Al-Owais noted that the work at the Al-Hamma station is both necessary and urgent, as it involves replacing major valves that have reached the end of their operational lifespan. He stated that this maintenance, which had been deferred since the station’s commissioning, was deliberately scheduled during this period to coincide with lower water consumption rates compared to the summer months, thereby minimizing the impact on residents.

The technical campaign will also address the main transmission pipeline connecting the Alouk and Al-Hamma stations. Furthermore, crews are tasked with repairing a technical breach in a pipeline within the Alouk station and addressing water leaks that have previously caused significant resource wastage. The director-general emphasized that these efforts are part of a broader strategy to enhance the efficiency of the pumping system, ensure long-term operational sustainability, and increase the volume of water delivered to the stations once repairs are completed.

This announcement follows the company’s disclosure on Friday regarding the results of laboratory tests conducted on water from the Alouk station. The analyses confirmed that the water meets established safety and quality standards, reinforcing the station’s status as a primary source of drinking water for the region. Authorities hope that these maintenance efforts will help overcome the technical challenges currently affecting the water stations, ultimately leading to improved water delivery for the people of Al-Hasakah Governorate.
