Damascus Water Supply Delayed for Reservoir Refilling

The General Establishment for Drinking Water and Sanitation in Damascus Governorate has announced a temporary adjustment to today’s water distribution schedule. Due to the need to complete the refilling of the company’s main reservoirs, the water pumping process will be delayed by three hours from the previously scheduled time in several areas of the capital.
Maher Nafisa, Deputy Director of the Drinking Water Directorate, explained that this delay is a necessary measure to reach the required storage levels within the reservoirs. He assured residents that water supplies to the affected neighborhoods will resume immediately once the refilling process is completed. He further stated that the company will take the necessary steps to compensate for the delayed hours, ensuring that water reaches all beneficiaries in a fair and equitable manner.
The adjustments impact a broad range of Damascus neighborhoods and districts. Areas affected include Al-Mahdi bin Baraka Street, Al-Shaalan, Al-Salihiyah, Al-Rawda, Al-Jisr Al-Abyad, Al-Taliani, Al-Mazraa, Al-Meysat, Al-Hamra Street, Arnous, Al-Shahbandar, 29th of May Street, and Baghdad Street along its entire length, as well as the vicinity of Tahrir Square.
Further affected locations include the neighborhoods of Sarouja, Al-Oqaiba, Bab Touma, Al-Qaimariyeh, Al-Jamarik, Al-Baramkeh, Al-Halbouni, Al-Midan, Kafr Sousa, Old Damascus, Al-Shaghour, Al-Amin Street, Bab Musalla, Al-Suwayqa, the Kafr Sousa development area, Old and New Al-Zahira, Khaled bin Walid Street, Al-Thawra Street, the Yarmouk Camp, the old Daraa road, Al-Ikhlas neighborhood, Al-Tadamon, Daf al-Shouk, Al-Qadam, the Industrial Zone, and Boustan al-Dour.
It is worth noting that the company implemented a similar measure on the 19th of last month, involving a five-hour delay for the same purpose. As part of its ongoing operational strategy, the company emphasizes its commitment to managing available water resources with the highest possible efficiency. This approach aims to ensure a balanced and sustainable supply of water across all Damascus neighborhoods, while continuously monitoring reservoir levels to maintain network stability and prevent any unplanned outages.
Technical crews from the company are actively following up on field operations to ensure the updated schedule is executed effectively and that water pumping is restored at the earliest possible moment once the reservoirs reach the required capacity.
