Homs Engineers’ Syndicate Honors Veterans and Former Detainees
The Syrian Engineers’ Syndicate in Homs held a special ceremony on Saturday to honor a group of engineers who had previously been detained, as well as those who participated in military operations known as ‘deterring aggression.’ The event also recognized the families of engineers who lost their lives during the years of crisis. The ceremony took place at the Engineers and Doctors Club in Homs, highlighting the importance of such initiatives in strengthening national memory and honoring the engineering talent that contributed to the country’s defense.
Malek Haj Ali, the head of the Syrian Engineers’ Syndicate, stated during the event that the ceremony is part of a national initiative launched by the syndicate last year in Damascus. The program aims to express appreciation for the contributions of engineering personnel who have made significant sacrifices in both military and civil fields. Haj Ali noted that all regional branches of the syndicate across Syrian governorates have been directed to continue honoring former detainees, those who served in national operations, and the families of the deceased. He emphasized the central role engineers play in the current phase, which requires collective efforts to advance the processes of national reconstruction and the restoration of infrastructure damaged by the war.
For their part, the honored engineers expressed their appreciation for the gesture, noting its profound moral and humanitarian significance. Engineer Ahmed Al-Mansour, who participated in field operations, remarked that the recognition reflects a spirit of gratitude for their national role, particularly as all involved look forward to participating effectively in the reconstruction phase and the repair of Syria’s infrastructure. Another recipient, engineer Abdul Jawad Kikar, a former detainee, expressed his pride in the honor, describing it as a manifestation of the values of loyalty that have become firmly established following the period of liberation.
This event is part of a wider series of activities conducted by the Syrian Engineers’ Syndicate. In January, the organization honored approximately 95 engineers and several official figures in Damascus. These initiatives are part of the syndicate’s broader efforts to unify national energies and recognize those who contributed to defending Syrian sovereignty and laying the foundations for future development. Through these activities, the syndicate reaffirms its ongoing commitment to supporting engineers across all sectors, focusing on the importance of utilizing their expertise in upcoming strategic projects to facilitate national recovery.
