Road Accidents and Fires Leave 20 Injured Across Syria
Syrian civil defense teams, operating under the Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management, have been highly active over the past 24 hours in response to a series of field emergencies involving road accidents and fires across the country.
According to data released by the civil defense via its official Telegram channel, emergency teams responded to 18 road accidents in various regions. These incidents resulted in 20 people sustaining injuries of varying severity. Field crews provided first aid to the victims before transporting them to hospitals for necessary medical treatment. Additionally, personnel worked to clear accident debris, reopen roads, and secure affected sites to ensure traffic safety.
In a related development, civil defense teams faced a heavy operational load due to the outbreak of 101 fires across the country during the same 24-hour period. These incidents involved a wide range of locations and materials, including residential homes, commercial shops, dry grass, trees, agricultural crops, waste disposal sites, and electrical wiring. Emergency teams successfully extinguished all fires and cooled the sites to prevent any potential reignition.
According to the report, two people were injured as a result of the fires and received treatment at the scene, while the remaining incidents resulted only in material damage. These events coincide with recurring warnings issued by the civil defense, which has urged citizens to exercise maximum caution. Specifically, the authorities have called for a ban on lighting fires in forested areas and agricultural fields. Furthermore, citizens are urged to avoid disposing of cigarette butts or glass containers on roadsides, as these can ignite fires under the heat of the sun. The civil defense also emphasized the importance of disposing of dry vegetation around homes through safe methods rather than resorting to burning.
This spike in incidents follows a period of heightened activity for the emergency services. In the previous 48 hours, the civil defense recorded one fatality and 33 injuries in similar accidents. These figures underscore the state of constant alert maintained by field teams to address ongoing risks and protect lives and property throughout Syria’s cities and regions.
