Major Drug and Weapons Smuggling Attempt Thwarted in Rif Dimashq

Syrian anti-narcotics forces in the Rif Dimashq region have successfully intercepted and thwarted a major smuggling operation involving significant quantities of Captagon pills.

According to an official announcement from the Anti-Narcotics Directorate via their Telegram channel, the targeted security operation took place in the Nabek area. Authorities successfully seized 206,000 Captagon pills and confiscated various weapons and explosives found in the possession of the smugglers. Two individuals, identified as (B.D.) and (Kh.N.), were arrested during the operation. The Directorate confirmed that both suspects, along with the seized illicit materials, will be referred to the competent judiciary to undergo the necessary legal proceedings.

This operation is part of the ongoing efforts by Syrian security agencies to secure the nation’s borders and combat illegal activities.

In a related development, the Media and Communication Department of the Syrian Ministry of Defense announced earlier on Saturday that Border Guard forces of the Syrian Arab Army have successfully conducted a series of operations along the Syrian-Lebanese border since the beginning of September.

These ongoing security measures have resulted in the seizure of additional shipments of narcotics. These recent interdictions include approximately 32 kilograms of hashish, as well as a separate shipment of Captagon pills totaling roughly 194,000 tablets. A number of smugglers involved in these attempts were also apprehended.

These recent field developments are part of a broader Syrian security strategy aimed at curbing the spread of narcotics and securing border regions against illicit smuggling activities.
