Daraa Seed Multiplication Branch Receives 10,000 Tons of Wheat

The Daraa branch of the General Organization for Seed Multiplication has successfully completed the intake of this season’s wheat crop, securing approximately 10,000 tons of various certified varieties and grades.

Jamal Al-Turkmani, director of the organization’s branch in Daraa, confirmed that a total of 9,979 tons of wheat have been delivered to the institution. He noted that the disbursement of financial payments to the supplying farmers is proceeding on schedule. According to Al-Turkmani, the majority of farmers have already received their first payment, while others have begun receiving their second. He further stated that the organization has not received any complaints regarding the financial settlement process.

This season’s results represent a notable improvement compared to the previous harvest, during which the organization received only 3,966 tons. The lower intake last year was primarily attributed to declining production levels caused by drought conditions and difficult weather patterns across the region.

In parallel with the successful collection phase, staff at the Daraa branch have already commenced preparations for the upcoming agricultural season. These efforts aim to ensure that certified seeds are available to farmers in a timely manner for planting. As part of this proactive measure to enhance seed quality and readiness prior to distribution, the branch has already completed the screening and sterilization of approximately 2,300 tons of wheat seeds.

These operations are integral to the General Organization for Seed Multiplication’s broader plan to meet national agricultural needs and foster stability in the grain sector. By intensifying technical and logistical operations at its collection centers within the province, the organization seeks to ensure the continuity of production and overcome the challenges faced in previous agricultural seasons.
