73% of Earthwork and Trench Filling Project Completed in North Aleppo
The northern countryside of Aleppo has seen significant progress in the “Echo of Resilience” project, an initiative dedicated to clearing earth mounds and filling trenches left behind by years of conflict. As of now, the project has reached a completion rate of approximately 73 percent.
According to official data regarding the project’s progress, field teams have successfully cleared and filled nearly 145 kilometers of earthworks and trenches. This figure represents the majority of the 200-kilometer target set under the project’s original implementation plan. The initiative is being carried out through the collaborative efforts of the Aleppo Governorate, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and the Disaster Management and Defense sectors, all working together to rehabilitate affected areas and facilitate the return of daily life to the region.
Authorities have emphasized the critical importance of this project, noting that it plays a direct role in reopening vital roads that connect cities and towns across the northern countryside. By restoring these routes, the project significantly improves the mobility of local residents and enhances regional connectivity.
Beyond the immediate service and logistical benefits, the project carries substantial economic and agricultural importance. By clearing the land, the initiative aims to enable farmers to regain access to their fields and resume cultivation. These efforts are expected to bolster stability in the region and stimulate local productive activity.
Operations are being conducted according to stringent safety protocols to ensure the wellbeing of the local population. Before any removal or filling work commences, specialized teams tasked with clearing war remnants and demining conduct precise field surveys. These teams carefully inspect the routes and trenches to ensure they are free of hazardous remnants or explosive devices, thereby ensuring that all rehabilitation work is carried out in a safe and sustainable manner.
The “Echo of Resilience” project was officially launched by the Aleppo Governorate at the beginning of July. It forms part of a broader, long-term strategy focused on promoting stability, facilitating the safe return of residents to their areas, and restoring essential infrastructure across the governorate.
