Tartus Agriculture Directorate Intensifies Forestry Protection

As part of ongoing efforts to preserve vegetation and protect natural resources, the Tartus Agriculture Directorate has announced an intensification of its regulatory and field measures across the governorate. These initiatives are designed to strengthen the protection of forest resources, which represent a vital component of the local ecosystem.
These field-based operations come at a time when relevant authorities are working to crack down on threats to woodland areas, specifically addressing illegal tree felling practices that endanger the integrity of the forests. The directorate’s oversight teams have been instructed to increase the frequency of their patrols to ensure strict adherence to existing environmental laws and to protect green spaces from any illegal activities that could cause long-term environmental damage.
In addition to measures targeting illegal logging, the directorate is placing a high priority on fire prevention, particularly given the seasonal risks that threaten forestry sites. The current field strategy includes implementing precautionary measures to mitigate potential fire hazards and ensuring high levels of readiness to respond to any emergencies that may compromise forest safety.
These steps underscore the commitment of the Tartus Agriculture Directorate to fulfill its mandate of preserving forest wealth and ensuring its sustainability for future generations. To achieve this, the directorate is activating regular monitoring mechanisms and increasing the field presence of its technical and forestry teams, with a particular focus on locations identified as being at the highest risk of environmental threats.
