Syria Establishes Business Council to Strengthen Ties with Pakistan

In a move aimed at organizing and advancing economic and commercial cooperation between Syria and Pakistan, the Syrian Ministry of Economy and Industry has issued a decree establishing the Syrian-Pakistani Business Council on the Syrian side. This measure is part of the ministry’s broader initiative to strengthen the operations of joint business councils and formalize cooperation frameworks with various nations.

Under the terms of the decree, the administrative structure of the council has been finalized. Mustafa Muhammad Jamil Musa has been appointed as the president of the council. The leadership team also includes Moaz al-Barmawi and Iyad Saliq, who will serve as vice presidents. Additionally, the council comprises Sulaiman al-Haj Kardoush as secretary, Muhannad Sayyid Ali as executive director, and Hamza al-Abrash as public relations manager.

The decree confirms the council’s commitment to operating in accordance with the statutes governing Syrian joint business councils. It emphasizes that all activities must align with the charter and procedural guidelines issued by the Syrian Council for Coordinating Joint Business Councils. The ministry stated that this council is the sole entity authorized to represent the Syrian side in relations with its Pakistani counterparts, ensuring consistency with established regulations and procedures.

Furthermore, the decree mandates that the Syrian Council for Coordinating Joint Business Councils oversee the new body’s activities. This oversight is intended to ensure continuous coordination with relevant authorities and to guarantee that the council’s performance remains consistent with the broader Syrian business council system, ultimately serving the nation’s economic priorities.

This development follows a series of regulatory actions taken by the Ministry of Economy and Industry to activate channels for external economic engagement. On September 27, the ministry issued a similar decree establishing the Syrian-Azerbaijani Business Council. These steps reflect a comprehensive plan to expand the horizons of economic cooperation and build effective trade partnerships with regional and international partners.
