Registration Extended for Syrian Science Olympiad until October 10

The Syrian Excellence and Creativity Commission has officially announced an extension for the registration period of the Syrian Science Olympiad for the 2026–2027 academic season. Applications will now be accepted until October 10, a move intended to provide further opportunities for students wishing to participate in these national scientific competitions.

This extension follows the initial registration window that opened on August 18. The competition is open to students who successfully completed their Basic Education certificate for the 2025–2026 academic year and who aspire to join the National Center for Distinguished Students or compete in the various specialized categories of the Olympiad.

To ensure the validity of applications, the Commission has established specific eligibility criteria. Applicants must be currently enrolled in a school within the Syrian Arab Republic for the 2026–2027 academic year and must have successfully passed their Basic Education or Sharia Preparatory certificate examinations during the previous school year.

Regarding academic requirements, the Commission has set a minimum score threshold for admission. Candidates must have achieved at least 2,500 marks in the Basic Education certificate or 2,340 marks in the Sharia Preparatory certificate, excluding grades from “cosmic” subjects. Furthermore, candidates are required to meet specific academic benchmarks in specialized subjects, with a minimum grade of 595 in Mathematics and 395 in General Sciences.

The Syrian Science Olympiad offers a significant competitive platform for students, covering six scientific disciplines: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Informatics, and Nuclear Sciences. Registration must be completed through the designated electronic link provided by the Commission to ensure the organizational integrity of the competition.

Through these initiatives, the Excellence and Creativity Commission aims to nurture young talent, foster the development of scientific skills among students, and prepare a promising cadre capable of contributing to the advancement of scientific and technical sectors in Syria. The Commission has emphasized the importance of adhering to the new deadline to ensure inclusive participation and equal opportunities for all eligible students.
