Large Drug Shipment Seized at Jdeidat Yabous Border Crossing

The Syrian General Directorate for Drug Control, in coordination with the General Authority for Border Crossings and Customs, has successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle a significant shipment of narcotics through the Jdeidat Yabous border crossing with Lebanon.

According to official information released by the drug control authorities, the operation resulted in the seizure of 395,000 Captagon pills. The illicit cargo was reportedly destined for the Rif Dimashq area. Authorities noted that the shipment was concealed within transport vehicles using sophisticated camouflage techniques intended to bypass security and regulatory inspection procedures.

Following the interception, officials arrested the individuals involved in the smuggling attempt. The relevant judicial authorities have commenced legal proceedings against the suspects, with preparations underway to refer them to the appropriate court.

This operation is part of an ongoing series of intensified security measures implemented by the Directorate for Drug Control at various border crossings. These efforts aim to curb attempts to introduce illicit substances into Syrian territory.

Security officials have reported a recent increase in the frequency of smuggling attempts originating across the Lebanese border. The past few days have seen a string of significant seizures. On September 30, authorities intercepted 225,000 Captagon pills. This was followed by another operation on October 6, during which officials confiscated 210,000 Captagon pills along with 62 kilograms of hashish.

These successive seizures underscore the ongoing commitment of security forces to tighten oversight at all border points. These measures are designed to ensure public safety and enforce the law against any individuals found to be involved in illegal smuggling operations.
