Kuwaiti Book Stall Draws Crowds at Syria Summer Festival
The ongoing Syria Summer Festival has seen a significant turnout at the specialized stall for discounted books, where a wide array of cultural and educational titles are being made available to the public. The initiative is led by the Kuwait-based publishing and distribution house, “Dream Book,” which is showcasing its catalogue as part of the festival’s broader cultural programming.
The collection on display is curated to appeal to a broad demographic, ranging from children and young adults to mature readers. Offerings include works on personal development, general culture, and literature, ensuring that visitors of all ages can find materials suited to their interests. Speaking on the success of the initiative, Mashal Mashouh, the representative for the “Dream Book” stall, noted that this marks the organization’s second participation in a Syrian cultural event. He emphasized that the positive response received during their previous experience at a local book fair served as the primary motivation for returning to the Syria Summer Festival. By offering titles at significantly reduced prices—with some volumes available for as little as 250 Syrian pounds—the initiative aims to ensure that reading materials remain accessible to the widest possible segment of the population, despite prevailing economic challenges.
The initiative has been well-received by festival attendees, who have highlighted the variety and affordability of the available texts. One visitor, Jude Arafa, expressed her appreciation for the range of topics covered, noting that she was particularly drawn to the collection of religious texts and studies related to the Holy Quran. She added that the accessible pricing structure encouraged her to expand her personal library with several new acquisitions.
This cultural activity is organized under the supervision of the Syrian Ministry of Culture as part of a larger, ongoing effort to foster regional cooperation. By facilitating partnerships with Arab publishers and cultural institutions, the Ministry aims to strengthen cultural exchange and reinforce Syria’s position within its regional environment.
