Idlib Governor Discusses Cooperation and Development in Hatay

As part of efforts to strengthen service and economic ties and foster joint cooperation, the Governor of Idlib, Mohamed Abdul Rahman, led an official delegation on a visit to the Turkish province of Hatay. During the visit, the delegation participated in a series of meetings focused on exploring collaborative opportunities across various development and service sectors.
In a meeting with the Deputy Governor of Hatay and the Director of the Cilvegözü border crossing, Alp Arslan Yılmaz, the discussion centered on improving joint coordination and facilitating the movement of passengers and goods through the Bab al-Hawa and Cilvegözü crossings. The primary goal of these discussions is to enhance the efficiency of transit operations and ensure that working procedures continue to serve the mutual interests of both sides.
Furthermore, Governor Abdul Rahman met with the Governor of Hatay, Mustafa Masatlı, at the government complex in Antakya. The two sides reviewed opportunities for developing new partnerships and launching joint initiatives, with a specific focus on exchanging expertise in local administration, municipal work, and the organization of public services.
Discussions also covered leveraging Hatay’s experience in reconstruction and post-earthquake recovery. The parties addressed efforts in infrastructure rehabilitation and the provision of housing for those affected by the earthquake and for displaced persons. Additionally, the meetings explored strategic cooperation in the energy, environmental, and healthcare sectors, alongside efforts to promote commercial and industrial activities aimed at supporting economic movement and resource development.
On the sidelines of the visit, the Governor and his delegation conducted a field tour of Antakya to observe the city’s administrative and organizational activities. The tour included a review of heritage sites and the urban planning measures adopted to preserve the city’s architectural identity and historical character. The delegation visited several key historical and vital sites, including the governorate residence, the historic parliament building, Atatürk and Istiklal streets, and the ancient Habib-i Neccar Mosque and its associated social facilities.
This field visit comes as both parties seek to establish sustainable relations in service and economic fields, support infrastructure projects, and launch development initiatives that contribute to regional stability and the facilitation of public services.
