Hama Emergency Directorate Promotes Disaster Response Awareness

The Hama Emergency and Disaster Management Directorate is participating in this year’s Hama Spring Festival as part of its ongoing initiative to enhance community awareness regarding safety protocols and disaster response procedures. During the event, the directorate is screening a series of three educational videos on the festival’s main stage, aimed at illustrating the mechanisms of disaster response and providing practical guidance on protecting and rescuing individuals in critical conditions.

Shereen Loulou, the field supervisor for the war remnants awareness project in the central region, explained that the videos offer a comprehensive overview of the directorate’s operational scope. The content details the essential tasks performed by rescue teams, including firefighting, water rescue operations, and the specialized management of war remnants, alongside standard ambulance and rescue services. Furthermore, the presentations address the humanitarian challenges and complex circumstances encountered by civil defense teams during emergency missions, with a particular focus on the experiences faced during the recent earthquake that impacted the region.

Through this participation, the directorate aims to underscore the continuous readiness of its civil defense teams to provide essential services dedicated to protecting the lives of citizens and safeguarding both public and private property.

The Hama Spring Festival is a prominent annual event that attracts a wide audience from both within and outside the governorate. The current edition of the festival, which runs until September 17, features a diverse range of cultural, commercial, and tourism-related activities designed to engage visitors.
