As-Suwayda Governor Announces Reinstatement Committee for Workers
The Governor of As-Suwayda, Mustafa al-Bakour, has announced the formation of a formal committee tasked with overseeing the return of public sector employees who were dismissed during the years of the conflict. The initiative focuses on personnel formerly employed by the Ministry of Local Administration and Environment and various administrative units within the province.
According to an official statement released by the As-Suwayda Governorate via its social media channels on Monday, the committee has been established to receive and process applications from eligible individuals seeking to resume their professional duties. Applicants are required to visit the designated committee offices located in the town of Al-Soura al-Saghira. Candidates must provide the necessary official documentation to allow the committee to evaluate their cases in accordance with established administrative regulations and legal procedures.
This development follows a broader announcement made by the Minister of Local Administration and Environment, Mohammad Anjarini, during a press conference held last Wednesday. The Minister disclosed national-level figures regarding the reinstatement of employees dismissed due to their involvement in the events that began in 2011.
Minister Anjarini reported that the total number of individuals dismissed across the country reached 8,014. Of this total, 6,520 people have already been reinstated, representing a return rate of approximately 81 percent. The Minister noted that 1,494 individuals did not submit the required documentation for reinstatement, as they did not meet the specific regulatory criteria for return to their posts.
The formation of the committee in As-Suwayda serves as a localized step in the government’s ongoing process to address the employment status of those affected by the decade-long instability. By providing a clear pathway for submission of documentation, provincial authorities aim to finalize the status of the remaining affected workforce in the region. The committee’s work is expected to focus on verifying the eligibility of applicants as they come forward with their official credentials.
As the administrative process moves forward, the governorate has emphasized that all applications will be reviewed systematically.
