Al-Nashwa Health Center Reopens in Al-Hasakah After Expansion
The Al-Hasakah Health Directorate announced on Tuesday the reopening of the Al-Nashwa Health Center in the city of Al-Hasakah. The facility has undergone significant rehabilitation and expansion works, aimed at elevating the standard of medical care and primary health services available to local residents.
Khaled Al-Khalid, Director of Health in Al-Hasakah, stated that the center is now equipped to provide a comprehensive range of medical services. These include specialized care for patients with chronic diseases, pediatric services, and healthcare for women and expectant mothers. Additionally, the center continues to host periodic vaccination programs managed by the Health Directorate. Al-Khalid emphasized that the center is now considered a model facility, with the Ministry aiming to replicate its experience in other health institutions to ensure high-quality care for the largest possible number of patients.
Abdul Basit Younes, manager of nursing activities for Doctors Without Borders (MSF), noted that the rehabilitation and expansion project involved constructing a new building and equipping additional rooms outside the center’s original structure. This expansion has successfully increased the facility’s capacity and broadened the scope of its services. Younes confirmed that the organization provides the center with essential support, including incentives for medical staff, the provision of necessary resources and medications, and technical and supervisory guidance to ensure operations meet required standards.
According to Younes, the center—which previously served only patients with chronic conditions—has transitioned into a new phase that allows it to accommodate a wider range of patients. He highlighted the importance of the ongoing partnership between Doctors Without Borders and the Health Directorate in developing the health system and improving the quality of care provided to citizens.
This initiative is part of a broader plan adopted by the Syrian Ministry of Health to support health centers and strengthen primary healthcare programs across the governorates. It also aligns with governmental efforts to enhance cooperation with active international organizations to advance the health sector and overcome challenges that hinder public access to essential medical services. These objectives were a primary focus of discussions held last month between the Syrian Minister of Health, Musab Al-Ali, and a delegation from Doctors Without Borders.
