Al-Hasakah Governor Forms Interim Executive Offices for 19 Local Councils

The Governor of Al-Hasakah, Nour al-Din Ahmad, has issued a series of administrative decisions aimed at restructuring and activating local governance across the province. The decrees authorize the formation of interim executive offices for the Amuda city council and 18 other towns and municipalities located throughout the region’s various districts.

This initiative is part of an ongoing effort to reorganize local administrative units, ensuring they are better equipped to perform the service-oriented and administrative tasks assigned to them within their respective jurisdictions. The newly formed offices will manage local council affairs and exercise the legal powers granted to them under current Syrian legislation, specifically the Local Administration Law promulgated by Legislative Decree No. 107 of 2011. These offices are slated to remain in operation until new local elections are held.

In addition to the Amuda city council, the latest decisions cover the town of Bir al-Helou al-Wardiya and 17 municipalities across the northern and southern countryside of the province. These include Abu Dhuwayl, Al-Saada, Tal Awda, Al-Shamasiyah, Dishishat al-Arabiya, Jarmaz Gharbi, Umm Rukaybah Sharqiya, Al-Rashidiyah al-Gharbiya, Rahiya, Hadaaj, Al-Hajiyah, Al-Fadghami, Al-Hanna Sharqiya, Habis, Khuwaytalat al-Juwalah, Khirbet Ammo, and Al-Ahsa.

These administrative measures follow a similar series of organizational steps taken by the Al-Hasakah governorate last September. During that period, the governor issued mandates to establish interim executive offices for four major cities—Al-Malikiyah, Qamishli, Al-Darbasiyah, and Ras al-Ain—as well as eight other towns, including Mabada, Al-Qahtaniyah, Al-Jawadiyah, Al-Muthanna, Burqa, Al-Anadiyah, Tal Hamdi, Al-Haniya, and Suwaydiyah Fawqani, alongside 36 additional municipalities in the rural areas of the province.

The administrative restructuring aims to strengthen the presence of government institutions in Al-Hasakah and guarantee the continuity of service delivery for citizens in these areas. This initiative falls within the broader framework of reactivating the administrative functions of local units falling under the authority of the Syrian Ministry of Local Administration and Environment.
