Al-Hasakah Agricultural Bank Begins Grain Payouts to Farmers
The Agricultural Cooperative Bank in Al-Hasakah province has officially commenced the distribution of financial payments to farmers who have delivered their grain harvests to state procurement centers. This move marks the start of the payout process for the current season, aimed at settling dues for crops sold to the Syrian Establishment for Grain.
The administrative process for these payments is being conducted through a systematic approach based on nominal schedules organized by the date of delivery. According to the branch manager, Ezzou Al-Hamid, this structured method is designed to streamline the payout process, ensure that farmers receive their dues efficiently, and prevent overcrowding or delays at bank facilities. Currently, the main branch in the city of Al-Hasakah is serving as the hub for these transactions, processing payments not only for the local center but also for bank branches in Shaddadi, Ras al-Ain, Abu Rasin, Tal Tamer, Markada, Tal Brak, and Al-Hol.
Financial operations are being carried out in cash, adhering to the latest directives issued by the Central Bank of Syria and the bank’s general administration. Regarding the specific payment terms, Al-Hamid explained that any invoice with a total value of one million Syrian pounds or less is being settled in full, in a single payment. For amounts exceeding this threshold, the bank has implemented a tiered disbursement schedule, where the total sum is divided into four equal monthly installments.
While the current payments are being conducted as cash transactions due to the availability of liquidity, officials noted that they are still awaiting instructions regarding the integration of the Sham Cash digital payment application. Once the necessary technical protocols are received, the system will expand its digital capabilities accordingly. Initial reports from the first day of operations indicate that the process is proceeding smoothly, with farmers reporting minimal wait times thanks to the organized daily appointment schedules.
Beyond the central branch in Al-Hasakah city, plans are already in place to extend these disbursement services to other major agricultural regions in the coming days. The bank is preparing to initiate similar operations in the Qamishli, Al-Malikiyah, Amuda, and Al-Darbasiyah branches to ensure that all farmers who have marketed their crops throughout the province receive their financial compensation.
This follows an announcement earlier this month by the director of the Syrian Establishment for Grain in Al-Hasakah, Abdul Hamid Daoud, who confirmed that a significant portion of the wheat purchase invoices had been transferred to the agricultural banks. The initial batch of payments included lists containing approximately three thousand farmers, with expectations that further lists will be processed in the immediate future to complete the payment cycle for the province’s agricultural sector.
