Syria Expects Hot Weather Conditions Through the Coming Week
Syria is bracing for a stretch of warm summer weather, with temperatures expected to fluctuate between their seasonal averages and up to three degrees Celsius above normal throughout the coming week. The National Meteorological Center reported that the country will experience relatively hot to hot conditions, with a shift in atmospheric patterns anticipated toward the end of the week.
Starting from the beginning of the week and extending through to mid-week, weather conditions across the country are expected to remain stable. During this period, temperatures will hover between 1 and 3 degrees Celsius higher than typical seasonal norms. However, meteorologists predict a shift in the weather toward the weekend, as temperatures are expected to trend downward, returning to levels near or slightly below the seasonal average.
In addition to the thermal patterns, the regional forecast indicates moderate to relatively active wind speeds. Current projections suggest wind speeds will range between 15 and 30 kilometers per hour, with anticipated gusts reaching between 45 and 55 kilometers per hour. Winds are expected to intensify further on Saturday, with speeds forecasted to reach between 55 and 65 kilometers per hour.
Atmospheric conditions across the eastern regions, the Al-Jazeera area, and the Badia are expected to be somewhat dusty. While there is a low probability of significant dust storms in these parts of the country, the potential remains present as part of the broader meteorological outlook.
Looking ahead to the weekend, the National Meteorological Center has indicated the potential for some rainfall. These light precipitation events are expected to be concentrated in coastal areas as well as parts of the central and north-western regions of Syria.
Regional temperature variations continue to reflect the geographical diversity of the country. For instance, inland and urban centers such as Damascus and Hama are seeing daytime highs around 38 degrees Celsius. Coastal cities, such as Latakia and Tartus, maintain cooler conditions with highs of 30 and 31 degrees Celsius, respectively. Conversely, eastern and northern governorates, including Deir ez-Zor, Raqqa, and Al-Hasakah, are experiencing the highest temperatures, with peak daytime highs reaching 43, 41, and 41 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Residents and authorities are advised to monitor official updates from the National Meteorological Center, particularly regarding the predicted wind activity and the shifting temperatures expected toward the end of the week as the country transitions through this warm summer period.
