Transformer Replaced in Baniyas Following Lightning Strike

The General Company for Electricity in Tartus has announced that emergency repair teams in the Baniyas district have successfully completed the technical replacement of an electrical transformer damaged by a powerful lightning strike. According to the company, the damaged unit, which had a capacity of 200 kVA, was replaced with a new unit of the same capacity to prevent power supply disruptions for subscribers in the affected area.

This operation is part of the ongoing efforts by regional emergency teams to address the impact of volatile weather conditions that have affected Tartus Governorate over the past two days. Severe thunderstorms during this period resulted in technical malfunctions across several components of the electrical network.

In a related effort to improve the stability of the power grid, emergency teams in the Safita district of the Tartus countryside carried out a similar operation on October 28. In that instance, technicians replaced a faulty transformer at the Al-Karama village junction with a new 200 kVA unit. This action was taken to enhance network efficiency and ensure a more stable delivery of electrical energy to the benefiting communities.

Public electricity companies across Syrian governorates carry out periodic maintenance on electrical infrastructure to ensure the continuity of essential services for citizens. These operations remain a priority, particularly in light of the challenges posed by adverse weather conditions and the significant operational pressure placed on regional electrical networks.
