Damascus Residents Hold Rally in Solidarity with Daraa and Quneitra

A large public rally took place on Friday in the Jobar neighborhood of Damascus, as residents from the area and surrounding districts gathered to express their solidarity with the people of the Daraa and Quneitra governorates. The protest served as a response to the ongoing military actions carried out by the Israeli occupation in these regions.

Participants at the event carried banners bearing the slogan, “Our people in Daraa and Quneitra are not alone.” The gathering highlighted a unified public stance regarding national sovereignty, with protesters collectively rejecting the actions of the Israeli military.

The rally comes at a time when Israeli forces continue to violate the 1974 Disengagement of Forces Agreement. These recurring violations have involved military incursions into areas of southern Syria. According to field reports, these activities include raids on civilian homes, the detention of residents, land leveling, and repeated shelling targeting residential areas and border regions.

For its part, the Syrian government continues to call upon the international community to uphold its legal and moral responsibilities. Damascus is urging global actors to pressure Israel to fully withdraw from the areas it has penetrated in the south of the country. In official statements, Syrian authorities have affirmed that all actions and aggressions committed by the occupation are null and void. Damascus maintains that these acts hold no legal weight under the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations.

These public demonstrations reflect a broader state of societal rejection of the pressures and violations affecting those living in border regions. The protestors emphasized their commitment to Syrian sovereignty and their firm rejection of any infringement upon the territorial integrity or stability of the country, particularly in areas currently facing heightened tensions due to ongoing Israeli military policies.
