Syrian Airlines Expands German Operations with Direct Munich Flights

The Syrian General Establishment for Civil Aviation and Air Transport has announced the launch of new, direct, and regular flights operated by Syrian Airlines to the German city of Munich. This initiative is part of an ongoing effort to expand the national carrier’s network and improve connectivity with the Syrian diaspora living abroad.

According to Omar Al-Hosari, head of the civil aviation authority, these flights are scheduled to commence on November 12, 2026. This launch follows the start of service to Berlin, which was previously announced to begin on November 10, 2026.

This expansion is a key component of a broader strategy adopted by the authority to strengthen the national carrier’s presence in the German market and facilitate travel for the Syrian community. Al-Hosari noted that the introduction of direct routes will significantly reduce the need for travelers to rely on connecting flights through intermediate airports. This shift is expected to decrease the burdens of transit, ultimately saving time and effort for passengers.

Furthermore, Al-Hosari indicated that the authority is actively working to finalize the regulatory and logistical procedures required to grant a new German airline approval to operate flights into Syria. This effort aims to connect more major German airports with Syrian destinations, thereby increasing the flow of air traffic between the two countries.

Al-Hosari explained that the civil aviation authority’s policy is built on the principles of diversifying air carriers and expanding operational points. This approach is intended to foster a competitive environment that improves the quality of services available to passengers. These endeavors are part of an integrated plan to reconnect Syria with the international air transport network, providing more flexible and diverse travel options.

The authority emphasized that it is paying close attention to these developments, given their role in facilitating the return of Syrians residing in Germany to their homeland. The expansion of the Syrian Airlines network remains a priority, aligned with the established operational plans for the carrier’s external destinations.
