Damascus Chamber of Industry Moves to Launch Adra Training Center

The Damascus Chamber of Industry and its countryside, represented by Chairman Mohammed Ayman Al-Mawlawi, has held a meeting with Nidal Bitar, the Country Director of the European organization IECD in Syria. The discussion focused on the operational steps required to launch the Chamber’s vocational training center located in the Adra Industrial Zone, as part of preparations for its upcoming opening.

During the meeting, held at the Chamber’s headquarters in Damascus, both parties reviewed the proposed administrative structure for the center. The facility has been designed to address critical specializations vital to the industrial sector, including information technology, communications, as well as occupational and environmental safety. The center’s primary objective is to manage training and industrial apprenticeship programs, support emerging businesses within the industrial zone, and facilitate the employment of graduates within existing industrial facilities.

An innovative operational mechanism was presented during the session, centered on direct engagement with industrialists. This will be facilitated through dialogue sessions held quarterly to accurately monitor the shifting needs of the labor market. Based on these findings, the center will launch specialized training courses and standardized assessments for trainees. This phase will be followed by a three-month practical field apprenticeship within industrial facilities, a process designed to refine the skills of trainees and secure direct employment opportunities for them upon the completion of their training.

This initiative is part of the Damascus Chamber of Industry and its countryside’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the vocational training and rehabilitation system in Syria. The project aims to develop human capital and bridge the gap between educational institutions and the actual requirements of the industrial sector. By raising the efficiency of the national workforce and providing qualified, trained personnel, the Chamber seeks to support the stability and development of the industrial work environment in the Damascus countryside and further stimulate industrial production.
