University of Aleppo Launches New Student Support Programs
The University of Aleppo has officially launched three strategic initiatives aimed at bolstering student support and improving educational and professional outcomes for its academic community. The announcement was made during the ‘Aleppo is Everything’ campaign in a ceremony attended by the Governor of Aleppo, Azzam al-Gharib, the university’s president, Osama Raadoun, and Youssef Sankar of the Sankar Holding Group, alongside various academic and local economic stakeholders.
The new programs, as outlined by the Aleppo Governorate, are designed to address both the professional and academic needs of the student body. The first initiative, the Vocational Empowerment Program, is set to assist 2,000 students. This project focuses on the development of practical skills and professional readiness, aiming to bridge the gap between academic study and the demands of the current labor market. By providing targeted training, the university seeks to ensure that its graduates are better equipped to enter the professional sphere upon completion of their studies.
In addition to the vocational focus, the university has introduced a Academic Care Program. This initiative targets 1,000 students, offering both financial and academic support to ensure the continuity and success of their educational journeys. These combined efforts reflect a broader commitment by the administration to mitigate the challenges faced by students within the current economic climate.
Beyond student-centered support, the university is also embracing technological infrastructure improvements with the launch of its new Digital Map. This project is intended to streamline the experience for both students and campus visitors by providing an accessible, digitized interface that identifies faculty locations, various campus facilities, and essential services offered by the institution. This move is part of an ongoing effort to modernize university operations and enhance the efficiency of internal navigation and service accessibility.
The launch of these projects follows a series of recent institutional developments for the university. In June, the Higher Education Council approved the establishment of several new colleges within the University of Aleppo to expand its reach, specifically targeting the city of Al-Bab in the eastern countryside of Aleppo. These include the Faculty of Agricultural Engineering, the Faculty of Science (Mathematics Department), and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. Together, these initiatives and structural expansions signal a comprehensive effort to revitalize the educational landscape in Aleppo and maintain the university’s vital role as a center for academic and professional advancement in the region.
