Israeli Military Forces Detain Civilian in Rural Quneitra
The northern countryside of Quneitra has experienced a fresh escalation in military activity by Israeli forces. According to field reports, a military force supported by several vehicles conducted an incursion into the area, resulting in the detention of a Syrian civilian.
Sources on the ground reported that the Israeli military unit advanced into the vicinity of the Al-Alam roundabout. The force established a sudden military checkpoint, where soldiers inspected passersby and checked identification documents, leading to the arrest of one local civilian.
This incident follows a series of military movements in the region. Only yesterday, two other civilians were reportedly detained during a similar incursion carried out by Israeli forces in the village of Al-Hurriya, located in the northern Quneitra countryside. These actions are part of an ongoing pattern of activities in the region, which include frequent incursions into Syrian territory, raids on civilian homes, the leveling of agricultural land, and sporadic shellfire attacks.
In response to these developments, the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates issued a strong condemnation of the escalating incursions. The Ministry described the operations as a flagrant violation of Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. In its official statement, the Ministry noted that these military activities have coincided with an increased presence of military helicopters, reconnaissance aircraft, and warplanes over the southern region, posing a direct threat to the safety and security of Syrian citizens.
Furthermore, the Ministry emphasized that these practices constitute a clear breach of the 1974 Disengagement of Forces Agreement. The Syrian government has called upon the international community to fulfill its legal and moral responsibilities to put an end to these ongoing violations. Additionally, the Ministry urged international organizations to compel Israel to adhere to international law and relevant United Nations resolutions. The statement stressed the importance of these measures in preventing further regional tensions and establishing the necessary conditions to restore sustainable security and stability in the southern region.
