Israeli Military Detains Civilian in Quneitra Countryside
The northern Quneitra countryside has witnessed a new escalation in military activity by Israeli forces. A military unit, supported by several vehicles, conducted an incursion into the area and carried out detentions among the civilian population.
Field sources reported that the Israeli military force advanced into the vicinity of the ‘Alam Roundabout. During this operation, they established a makeshift military checkpoint, where they inspected passersby and checked their identification documents. This action resulted in the detention of a Syrian civilian.
This incident is part of a broader series of military movements in the region. Only yesterday, two other civilians were detained during a similar incursion conducted by Israeli forces in the village of Al-Hurriya, located in the northern Quneitra countryside. These practices are part of a persistent pattern of violations by Israeli forces, which include repeated incursions into Syrian territory, raids on civilian homes, the leveling of agricultural lands, and sporadic attacks using shells.
In response, the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned these escalating incursions, characterizing them as a flagrant violation of Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. In an official statement, the Ministry noted that these operations have coincided with intensified flights by military helicopters, reconnaissance aircraft, and warplanes over the southern region, posing a direct threat to the security and safety of Syrian citizens.
Furthermore, the Ministry emphasized that these practices constitute a clear breach of the 1974 Disengagement of Forces Agreement. It called upon the international community to fulfill its legal and moral responsibilities to put an end to these ongoing violations. The Ministry also urged international organizations to compel Israeli forces to respect international law and relevant United Nations resolutions, aiming to prevent further tensions in the region and to create the necessary conditions for restoring sustainable security and stability in the southern region.
