Diverse Cultural and Educational Activities Held Across Syrian Provinces

On Monday, October 19, 2026, Syria witnessed a diverse array of cultural and awareness-raising activities. These events took place across various provinces, hosted within cultural centers and public institutions to engage local communities.

In Damascus, the capital, activities included the inaugural forum of the Arab Writers Union’s Friends Club, titled “The Passion of Writing and the Horizons of Art,” held at the union’s headquarters. The city also hosted several interactive workshops, such as a party decoration workshop at the Barza Cultural Center, a youth writers’ forum in Mazzeh, and a session on the “Art of Listening” at the Kafr Sousseh Cultural Center. Musical programming was also featured, with the Tanaghom Gardenia Association at Burj Al-Rous hosting a listening and discussion session for Maurice Ravel’s piano concerto. Additionally, film screenings continued at Cinema City in Damascus.

Activities in the Damascus Countryside (Rif Dimashq) focused largely on health and education. In Qatana, Dr. Alaa Al-Hammoud delivered a lecture on the importance of early breast cancer screening, while the Qatana Cultural Center hosted an educational session on the English language. In Deir Atiyah, the Palace of Culture held a medical lecture centered on emergency medical care and injury management.

Elsewhere in the country, the cultural landscape remained active. In Homs, the Jesuit Fathers monastery hosted a screening of the documentary film “Fire of Love.” Hama featured a lecture focused on heritage and traditional clothing, while Tartus saw a national poetry morning in Safita, complemented by film screenings for children at the Al-Kindi Cinema in Tartus city. In Latakia, the Children’s Library in Jableh organized a dialogue session focused on the topic of water.

In Aleppo, the University of Aleppo hosted a symposium discussing memory and the healing of the Syrian experience, alongside ongoing cinema screenings at the Al-Zahraa Cinema. In Deir ez-Zor, the programming was geared toward development and education. Events included a calligraphy and drawing workshop in Subaykhan, a lecture on time management in Al-Quriyah, and a seminar regarding traffic safety in the city of Al-Ashara. This widespread engagement reflects a broad range of cultural and social activity taking place across various regions of the country.
