National Show Jumping Championship Held in Rural Damascus

The Central Equestrian Club in the Dimas area of rural Damascus hosted the National Show Jumping Championship over the past two days. The event featured a distinguished group of Syrian riders competing across five diverse categories.

The tournament spanned two days, with the first day dedicated to the Amateurs, Children, and Mini Tour categories. On the second day, the Olympic arena hosted high-stakes competition for the Small Tour and Medium Tour classes.

In the competition results, riders Anas Al-Jaja and Hamza Al-Kurdi shared the top spot in the Amateur category, which followed a single-round system where the rider finishing without faults is declared the winner. In the Children’s category, which featured an 80 cm height course over two phases, rider Judy Limoni claimed first place. Rider Akram Abu Jib secured the top position in the 95 cm Mini Tour class.

In the more challenging categories, rider Mohammad Osama Al-Subaie captured the lead in the 120 cm Small Tour class, which was contested under a speed round format. The 130 cm Medium Tour concluded with a victory for rider Hammam Shihab following an exciting round that included an additional jump-off phase to determine the final rankings.

Zaid Abu Zaid, President of the Equestrian Federation, emphasized in press statements that this championship is part of intensive preparations for the international tournament scheduled for late November. He noted that the event provides riders with a valuable opportunity to refine their skills and gain further experience. Mofaq Al-Zubaidi, Vice President of the Federation, added that the tournament serves a dual purpose; it acts not only as a preparatory phase but also as an official championship where points are recorded toward the official Federation rankings for both rider and horse.

Participants collectively noted the high level of competition throughout the event, highlighting that the complexity of the course effectively tested the precision and skill of the riders. They reaffirmed their commitment to continued training in preparation for upcoming sporting engagements. This championship is part of a series of ongoing local events organized by the Syrian Equestrian Federation in accordance with established international technical and regulatory standards for show jumping competitions.
