Information Minister Attends Arab Media Dialogue Forum in Jordan

Syrian Minister of Information Khaled Zaarour participated in the Arab Media Dialogue Forum hosted by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, as part of broader efforts to enhance Arab media cooperation and exchange expertise to address the rapid transformations in the global media landscape.
During his participation, Minister Zaarour highlighted the importance of specialized media, noting the steps taken by the Syrian Ministry of Information to support this trend, including the establishment of a specialized directorate. The Minister also addressed the impact of artificial intelligence technologies on the future of media work in the region, emphasizing the essential role of media institutions in reinforcing national identity and protecting the interests of the state.
Throughout the forum’s sessions, Zaarour stressed the necessity of institutionalizing dialogue between media institutions and intellectuals across the Arab world. He noted that such coordination is vital for aligning positions and developing content that reflects the cultural and civilizational diversity of Arab societies while meeting their developmental needs. Furthermore, he pointed to the importance of investing in the training of media personnel and sharing successful experiences between Arab media institutions to help build a professional media discourse capable of showcasing the potential and resources of Arab nations on the global stage.
For his part, the Jordanian Minister of Government Communication, Mohannad Mubaideen, underscored during the forum’s opening—held on the sidelines of the ‘Fourth Future of Media and Communication Conference – A Changing World’—that professional and independent media serves as a fundamental pillar of state power. He emphasized the need to utilize digital tools and social media platforms professionally to effectively deliver media messages and improve performance.
The forum featured extensive discussions involving Arab officials, union leaders, and journalists. Topics centered on the challenges facing the media system in the Arab region, strategies to upgrade media performance to keep pace with rapid technological changes, and the role of media in supporting development and tourism sectors. Participants concluded by highlighting the importance of concerted Arab efforts to overcome obstacles hindering the development of the media scene, stressing the necessity of joint coordination to serve shared and just Arab causes.
