Over 500,000 Captagon Pills Seized at Jdeidat Yabous Border Crossing

Syrian customs authorities have successfully intercepted a major smuggling attempt involving more than half a million Captagon pills at the Jdeidat Yabous border crossing. The operation is part of an ongoing effort to secure the country’s borders against the illicit trade of narcotics.

According to official statements released by the General Authority for Ports and Customs, border officials seized 129,000 Captagon pills that were being transported into Syrian territory through the Jdeidat Yabous crossing. This latest interception marks the second such discovery by customs personnel at the location within a 48-hour window.

This seizure follows a separate operation conducted last Thursday, during which authorities confiscated 395,000 Captagon pills. Combined, the two consecutive interceptions have resulted in the seizure of approximately 524,000 pills intended for illicit entry into the country.

The General Authority for Ports and Customs indicated that these actions are part of a broader mandate to intensify oversight at border crossings. The authority is currently implementing tightened security and customs protocols to prevent the entry of prohibited substances and narcotics. These measures aim to combat smuggling activities that threaten public security and the stability of the community.

Officials stated that these successive seizures highlight the heightened state of alertness and vigilance currently maintained by customs personnel at Jdeidat Yabous. As one of the most vital transit points on the Syrian border, the crossing is under rigorous surveillance to ensure the strict enforcement of regulations and to monitor the movement of all goods entering and exiting the country.
