Rif Dimashq: Authorities Issue 303 Consumer Protection Violations

The Rif Dimashq Governorate has seen a significant increase in regulatory oversight activities conducted by the Directorate of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection. As part of ongoing efforts to monitor markets and ensure commercial and industrial entities comply with relevant regulations, the Directorate announced that 303 consumer protection violation notices were issued between October 1 and October 7.

In a statement, the Director of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection in Rif Dimashq, Abd al-Salam Khalid, explained that inspection teams carried out more than 100 field tours during this period. The inspection campaign targeted 1,080 diverse commercial entities, including 65 factories. The primary focus of these inspections was to verify advertised prices, ensure the accuracy of commercial invoices, and identify any other violations that could negatively impact consumer interests.

Khalid noted that the recorded violations included failure to display prices, failure to produce commercial invoices, and non-compliance with mandatory health requirements within facilities. The Director confirmed that immediate legal measures have been taken against violators in accordance with existing laws and regulations, emphasizing that oversight will continue to ensure market stability.

This regulatory activity is part of a series of periodic operations conducted by the Directorate to address market infractions. In a related context, the Directorate previously issued 295 violation notices during the final week of September, specifically between September 24 and 30, as part of its ongoing efforts to control prices and ensure that commercial and industrial entities adhere to established standards.

These figures reflect an intensified pace of oversight in Rif Dimashq, aligning with official efforts to monitor market activity and address violations that directly affect price stability and the availability of services. These measures aim to protect consumer rights and guarantee that facility owners adhere to required commercial and health regulations.
