“Anamel Min Baladi” Handicraft Exhibition Opens in Safita, Tartus

The Cultural Center in the city of Safita, located in Tartus Governorate, has launched the “Anamel Min Baladi” (Fingertips from My Country) handicraft exhibition. The event serves as a dedicated platform to display fine arts and artisanal works created by talented rural women.
Running for four days, the exhibition is a practical component of the Syrian Women’s Week program. It is the result of a collaborative effort between the Safita Cultural Center and the Rural Women’s Division of the Agriculture Department.
The primary objective of the exhibition is to establish direct market channels that allow women to promote and sell their local products. This initiative is designed to support their economic independence and contribute to improving their household incomes. Engineer Rabab Muhammad, head of Rural Development at the Safita Agriculture Department, noted that the exhibition focuses on harnessing the latent domestic skills of women and transforming them into productive projects with added value. Muhammad explained that preparations for the event involved extensive coordination to ensure the presentation of high-quality, distinct products, ranging from natural food items free of preservatives to meticulously crafted artisanal and artistic goods.
Participating women shared their creative experiences during the event. Agricultural engineer Labana Haidar Daoud showcased her work with “concrete flowers” (cement-based décor) and flowers crafted from velvet and satin fabrics. Daoud pointed out that her artistic background in drawing enabled her to add aesthetic and creative touches to her pieces, which successfully captured the interest of exhibition attendees.
Visitors expressed significant admiration for the quality and variety of the items on display. They emphasized that the combination of high craftsmanship and competitive pricing serves as a strong incentive to support and encourage these national products.
This exhibition is part of broader efforts within the “Syrian Women’s Week” program. Throughout the month of October, the program seeks to document and disseminate the creative works of women across various craft and artistic fields, while promoting collective initiatives aimed at preserving the material heritage of local communities in Syria.
