Syria Post Resumes International Parcel Shipping Services

The Syrian General Post Establishment announced today, Thursday, the resumption of its international parcel shipping service to all countries worldwide. The service is being facilitated through the network of the Universal Postal Union (UPU).

Imad El-Din Hamad, Director General of the Syrian General Post Establishment, stated that this development is a key part of the institution’s ongoing efforts to enhance its presence and restore its role as a vital link between Syria and the international community. This step follows the successful implementation of the first phase of the program, which involved establishing the infrastructure to receive inbound international parcels via the postal exchange office at Damascus International Airport.

In a press statement, Hamad noted that this achievement marks the end of a long period during which the Syrian postal service was unable to function as an active participant in international postal exchange. He emphasized that the institution aims to regain its role as an official gateway that connects Syrian citizens and the national economic sectors with the outside world. He further affirmed the commitment of the establishment to provide services that adhere to international standards while remaining competitively priced.

Regarding operational readiness, the Director General confirmed that all postal centers and branches across Syrian governorates, along with the international exchange center at Damascus International Airport, are fully prepared to provide integrated services. These services include the receipt, processing, and dispatch of both outbound and inbound international parcels.

It is noteworthy that the Syrian General Post Establishment initiated this process last June, when it announced the reactivation of the international parcel receipt service. That service was officially put into operation on July 1st via the postal exchange office at Damascus International Airport, setting the stage for the full integration of both outgoing and incoming international postal services.
