31 Injured in Traffic Accidents and Fires Across Syria

Syrian Civil Defense teams have reported a surge in field incidents over the past 24 hours, responding to numerous traffic accidents and fires across various regions of the country. These events resulted in 31 people sustaining injuries of varying severity.
According to official data released by the Civil Defense, emergency response teams handled 23 separate traffic accidents. These incidents alone accounted for 28 of the total injuries. Emergency personnel were deployed to provide first aid to the victims and facilitate their transport to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. Additionally, teams worked to clear accident sites and ensure road safety for other commuters.
In the same period, Civil Defense crews responded to 59 fires that broke out in multiple locations. These fires caused injuries to three individuals and resulted in material damage to properties. These incidents highlight the ongoing challenges faced by field staff in managing daily threats to public safety, infrastructure, and life.
Following these incidents, the Civil Defense authority has issued urgent warnings to motorists, stressing the necessity of adhering to traffic safety standards. Drivers are strongly advised to reduce speeds, conduct regular technical inspections of their vehicles—particularly focusing on brakes and windshield wipers—and avoid distractions such as the use of mobile phones while driving.
Furthermore, the authority issued appeals to citizens to implement preventive measures to avoid the outbreak of fires. Residents were warned against starting fires in forested areas and agricultural fields. The Civil Defense emphasized the importance of refraining from discarding cigarette butts or glass containers along roadsides, as these items are frequent causes of fires, especially near crops and wooded areas. Citizens were also urged to dispose of dry grass surrounding their homes through safe methods rather than resorting to burning.
These latest statistics follow a previous 24-hour period that saw similar emergencies, during which Civil Defense reports confirmed one death and 27 injuries resulting from various traffic accidents and fires. The frequency of these events underscores the sustained pressure on emergency response teams across all Syrian governorates as they work to address daily safety risks.
