Syria and Azerbaijan Establish Joint Business Council

Syria’s Minister of Economy and Industry, Nidal Al-Shaar, has announced the formation of the Syrian-Azerbaijani Business Council. The announcement was made while the Minister was leading a Syrian economic delegation at the Second International Investment Forum in Baku, Azerbaijan.

This initiative is part of the Syrian government’s ongoing efforts to expand its external economic relations, explore new markets for Syrian products, and strengthen the role of the private sector in the upcoming period.

In his address at the forum, Minister Al-Shaar emphasized that the establishment of the council represents a strategic move toward enhancing trade and investment cooperation between Syria and Azerbaijan. According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Economy and Industry via its official channel, the council will serve as an interactive platform to facilitate direct communication between the business communities of both nations. This mechanism is designed to streamline the exchange of information regarding available investment opportunities and to foster the establishment of joint projects and partnerships across vital economic sectors.

The launch of this council coincides with the strengthening of bilateral relations between Damascus and Baku, particularly within the realms of energy and broader economic cooperation, setting the stage for increased coordination in the near future.

Minister Al-Shaar arrived in Baku last Thursday at the head of a ministerial delegation. He participated in the forum’s activities, which commenced on Friday. The event saw broad participation from government officials, representatives of international financial institutions, major global corporations, and a group of investors, all gathered to explore ways to accelerate economic partnerships between the two countries.
