Nidal Al-Shaar Outlines Syria’s Economic Vision at Baku Forum
Syrian Minister of Economy and Industry Nidal Al-Shaar presented his nation’s economic vision during his participation in the Second International Investment Forum, currently being held in Baku, Azerbaijan.
During the event, Minister Al-Shaar emphasized that Syria’s current economic policy is prioritizing the creation of an attractive investment climate. He noted that the government is actively working to simplify administrative and legal procedures for both domestic and foreign investors.
Addressing attendees, the Minister highlighted that the national economic vision is fundamentally built on strengthening strategic partnerships between the public and private sectors. He explained that this integration of expertise and resources is essential for driving economic growth. According to Al-Shaar, government efforts are currently focused on directing investments toward high-value productive sectors, specifically industry and agriculture. He underscored the vital role these sectors play in creating job opportunities and enhancing the global competitiveness of Syrian products.
Minister Al-Shaar called upon business leaders, investors, and representatives of international financial institutions attending the forum to explore promising investment opportunities within Syria. He reaffirmed the Syrian government’s commitment to fostering a stable investment environment underpinned by economic and legislative stability. He added that the state is prepared to offer tangible facilities designed to encourage capital flow into productive and developmental projects. Furthermore, he emphasized Syria’s dedication to establishing balanced economic and trade relations with various nations, based on the principles of mutual interest and shared benefit.
Minister Al-Shaar arrived in the Azerbaijani capital on Thursday, leading a high-level ministerial delegation. The visit is intended to facilitate participation in the forum and conduct bilateral discussions aimed at strengthening commercial and investment cooperation, as well as expanding the horizons of economic partnerships between Syria and Azerbaijan. The event features an array of government officials, investors, experts from international financial institutions, and representatives from major global corporations.
