Four Fuel Stations Shut Down for Violations in Tartus

The Energy Services Directorate in Tartus has initiated strict legal measures against a number of fuel stations for regulatory violations. This move is part of ongoing efforts to monitor the distribution of petroleum products and ensure that supplies reach designated beneficiaries.

The Directorate announced the closure of four fuel stations for a full week, serving as both an administrative and legal penalty for the violations identified during recent inspections.

Amjad Mortada, Director of the Tartus Energy Services Directorate, explained that this action follows intensive field inspections conducted by the department’s quality control patrols over the past two days. These inspections covered approximately ten fuel stations across the province to ensure operators are adhering to current laws and regulations regarding the availability and sale of fuel to citizens.

Mortada specified that the violations recorded at the four stations primarily involved the illegal handling of strategic petroleum reserves. Additionally, the stations were found to have deliberately suspended fuel delivery operations and refused to supply citizens, despite having adequate stock available in their storage tanks.

In addition to the seven-day closure, the owners of the affected stations have been issued financial fines in accordance with established regulations.

Mortada emphasized that these measures are part of a broader initiative to strengthen oversight of the energy sector and regulate fuel distribution. He confirmed that the relevant authorities will continue to conduct both periodic and surprise inspection rounds to prevent the recurrence of violations that directly impact the daily needs of citizens.

He further warned that current laws mandate increased penalties for repeat offenses, which may ultimately lead to the permanent revocation of operating licenses if non-compliance persists.

This latest move occurs as the Tartus Energy Services Directorate continues to intensify its oversight of all fuel stations in the province. The goal is to ensure full compliance with established distribution controls and official directives, while actively preventing any manipulation or monopolization of basic materials essential to daily life.
