Aleppo Military Court Sentences Defendants in Coastal Violations Case

The Military Criminal Court in Aleppo held a public session on Thursday to deliver verdicts in the case concerning violations that occurred in the coastal region. The proceedings took place at the Aleppo Courthouse in the presence of judicial authorities and the families of the victims, marking the conclusion of a series of public hearings dedicated to reviewing evidence and hearing the defense’s arguments.

The court issued varying sentences against four defendants. One defendant was sentenced to death, a second received a life sentence, and a third was sentenced to 20 years in prison. The court acquitted the fourth defendant.

The trial began on November 18, following the referral of files related to the violations to the military judiciary. These proceedings are based on investigations conducted by the National Committee for Investigation and Fact-Finding regarding the events in the coastal region, which released a detailed report on July 22, 2025.

According to the committee’s report, army and security headquarters were subjected to large-scale attacks on March 6, 2025, by what it described as remnants of the former regime. These attacks resulted in the deaths of 238 members of the armed forces. The report further noted that the days following these attacks saw violations committed against civilians.

Investigations conducted by the National Committee for Investigation and Fact-Finding clarified that these acts were not organized or part of a systematic plan. Instead, they were the result of actions committed by individuals and small groups with varying motives, characterized as individual and random acts rather than part of a structured pattern or command-led operation. The competent judicial authorities continued to examine these files to ensure the application of existing laws and to hold those involved accountable based on the evidence and documentation presented during the trial sessions.
