Idlib Book Fair Hosts Seminar on Youth’s Role in Building Syria
As part of the fourth Idlib Book Fair, a thought-provoking seminar titled “The Role of Youth in Building a New Syria” was held, addressing the vital contributions of the younger generation toward societal development and the future.
During the event, Ayman Saif al-Din, a researcher specializing in political thought and international relations, outlined the critical responsibilities of young people as they prepare for the upcoming phase of national development. The seminar explored the broader concepts of renaissance, emphasizing that for young people to succeed, they must cultivate a clear vision and objective while bolstering self-confidence.
Saif al-Din highlighted the importance of overcoming psychological barriers, particularly the concept of civilizational defeatism. He identified the most significant challenge as bridging the “missing link” in youth awareness—specifically, understanding their required national roles. The session aimed to motivate participants toward proactive engagement and effective achievement.
The seminar featured significant interaction from the attendees, who raised questions regarding future challenges and strategies to address them. Saif al-Din noted that the discussions reflected a keen awareness among the youth, emphasizing the need for structured cognitive guidance. Such support is essential, he argued, to dispel uncertainty surrounding their roles and to assist them in defining their paths within the national reconstruction process.
Contributing to the discussion, attendee Mohammed Sadiq al-Shaar stressed the importance of bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. He cited the contributions of Arab and Islamic scholars as an inspirational model. Al-Shaar underscored the need to transform abstract ideas into tangible community initiatives that directly support development, noting that knowledge remains the foundation of any successful progress.
The seminar is part of an extensive cultural program featured at the Idlib Book Fair. The event is designed to invigorate intellectual activity and provide spaces for direct dialogue with the younger generation, enhancing their ability to acquire knowledge and participate in the nation’s growth. The book fair, which showcases a wide array of approximately 100 local, Arab, and foreign publishing houses, will continue its activities until September 18.
