3 Dead, 23 Injured in Syria Road Accidents Over 24 Hours
Syria has experienced a notable increase in traffic accidents over the past 24 hours. Civil Defense teams reported responding to 19 separate road accidents across various regions, which resulted in the deaths of three people and left 23 others with varying degrees of injury. Emergency teams provided immediate first aid to the injured before transporting them to hospitals for further medical treatment. Additionally, crews cleared the scenes of these accidents to restore traffic flow and ensure road safety.
Following these incidents, the Civil Defense has renewed its appeal for drivers to exercise caution on the roads. Officials emphasized the importance of adhering to speed limits and ensuring the mechanical readiness of vehicles, particularly in regards to brakes and windshield wipers. Furthermore, the Civil Defense warned against dangerous driving behaviors, specifically the use of mobile phones while behind the wheel, which remains a primary cause of driver distraction and traffic accidents.
In a separate operational update, Civil Defense teams continued their intensive field activities on Tuesday, responding to 92 fires across various provinces. These incidents included three fires in agricultural fields and crops, as well as numerous other blazes affecting houses, commercial shops, brush, trees, refuse, and electrical wiring. Field reports confirmed that thanks to the rapid intervention of teams to extinguish the flames and cool the sites, the damage was limited to material losses, with no human casualties recorded.
Regarding fire safety, the Civil Defense highlighted the necessity of adhering to fire prevention protocols. Citizens are urged to refrain from starting fires in forested areas or near agricultural fields. The teams also warned of the hazards posed by discarding cigarette butts or glass bottles on the sides of roads, which can act as lenses and ignite fires. Residents are advised to avoid burning dry grass in the vicinity of homes or on roadsides, and are encouraged to utilize safe removal methods instead.
This high volume of activity follows a series of emergency responses recorded by the Civil Defense over the previous 48 hours. During that period, teams dealt with various accidents, including one death and 18 injuries resulting from traffic incidents and fires across different Syrian regions. These events underscore the urgent need for consistent adherence to public safety guidelines to help reduce the frequency and severity of such incidents.
