As-Suwayda Prepares for Special Examination Session
Education authorities in the province of As-Suwayda are currently finalizing logistical and field preparations to conduct a special examination session for primary and secondary education students. The initiative follows the recent issuance of Decree No. 163 for the year 2026 by President Ahmed al-Sharaa, which mandates the special round to accommodate students in the province who were unable to participate in the general examinations earlier this year.
The Ministry of Education has been coordinating directly with provincial authorities to ensure that all testing centers, particularly those in the northern rural areas of As-Suwayda, are fully equipped and prepared for the upcoming sessions. A delegation of senior officials recently conducted an extensive inspection tour of various school facilities to oversee the state of the buildings and the necessary administrative preparations.
The inspection team included Mohamed al-Hanoun, Director of the School Buildings Authority at the Ministry of Education, alongside officials from the province’s General Secretariat, including Obeida al-Nabulsi and Abbas al-Sulaiman, as well as Tarek Adwan, the Director of the Shahba area. Their visit focused on verifying the readiness of the testing centers, confirming that all mandatory technical and service requirements are met to facilitate a seamless examination process for all participating students.
In addition to these local administrative efforts, the Minister of Education and the Interior, Mohamed Abdul Rahman Turko, personally visited several schools in the northern countryside of As-Suwayda last week to assess the progress of the preparations. During his visit, he held discussions with the Governor of As-Suwayda, Mustafa al-Bakour, to review the procedural framework and ensure that the special examination cycle aligns with established national standards.
Decree No. 163, issued last Wednesday, provides a significant opportunity for students who were unable to sit for the 2026 exams or who were unable to complete all required subjects. Under the terms of the decree, eligible students will have the chance to sit for the exams under the same rules and regulations that governed the primary and general secondary certificate examinations held earlier this year. The local authorities have emphasized that the maintenance and logistical adjustments in the northern rural centers are designed to create an optimal environment for students, ensuring the integrity and efficiency of the examination cycle as it moves into its final stages of preparation.
