Homs Health Directorate Hosts Seminar on Laboratory Diagnostics
The Homs Health Directorate, in coordination with the local Medical Syndicate, hosted a professional seminar on Tuesday aimed at refining laboratory diagnostic practices within the province’s public hospitals and health centers. The session, titled “Available Laboratory Analyses in Public Hospitals and Health Centers,” was organized under the auspices of the Scientific Research and Laboratory Diagnostic Evaluation Committee.
Hosted at the Homs Health Directorate’s main lecture hall, the event sought to underscore the critical role that precise laboratory testing plays in establishing accurate clinical diagnoses. A central theme of the discussion was the necessity of aligning diagnostic requests with patient symptoms and specific clinical conditions. Dr. Rima Al-Najjar, a specialist in laboratory diagnostics and head of the laboratory oversight committees at the Health Directorate, led the session. She utilized detailed illustrative tables to categorize common symptoms and clinical scenarios that necessitate emergency department intervention, outlining the specific laboratory tests most relevant to each case. The seminar was primarily targeted at resident doctors specializing in laboratory diagnostics, as well as residents and specialists from various other medical fields.
